High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Capabilities
At A.S. Chemical Laboratories Inc., we employ High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) as a core analytical technique throughout the production and development of pharmaceutical, biological, and specialty chemical products. HPLC allows us to detect, identify, and quantify individual components within complex mixtures with exceptional accuracy and sensitivity. It is essential for determining the composition, concentration, and purity of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, as well as for monitoring impurities and degradation products in accordance with regulatory expectations.
Using HPLC, we can effectively separate structurally similar synthetic chemicals, as well as the diverse constituents found in complex biological samples. Separation is achieved based on the varying degrees of interaction between each component and the stationary phase, resulting in unique retention times that enable precise qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Our laboratory is equipped with multiple state-of-the-art Agilent HPLC systems, featuring DAD (Diode Array Detector), VWD (Variable Wavelength Detector), and RI (Refractive Index) detectors. These instruments, combined with refrigerated autosampler chambers, ensure optimal performance and sample integrity—particularly for temperature-sensitive materials.
For larger-scale purification needs, we operate a Waters preparative HPLC system, enabling high-efficiency separation and isolation of compounds from the milligram to multi-gram range. This capability supports research, method development, impurity isolation, reference standard preparation, and small-scale production.
HPLC analysis is applicable to samples in liquid form or materials that can be dissolved into a suitable solvent system. Solid samples require appropriate preparation—such as dissolution, extraction, filtration, or centrifugation—to ensure compatibility with the chromatographic system and to maintain column performance.
