A.S. Chemical Laboratories - Water Test

The drinking water is a major source of several toxic elements to which we are exposed. Serious health problems may arise due to elevated level of such toxic elements. For example, lead which is introduced into drinking water through either old pipes in homes, lead lined tanks, through the use of 50/50 lead/tin solder or by old plumbing systems. This can potentially cause lead poisoning in human and domestic animals. This would have quite serious health effect.  Another example is Arsenic, which causes very serious health problems in many parts of the world due to naturally elevated levels.

Similarly excess of cobalt in humans can lead to erythrocytosis, while its deficiency in animals leads to anemia.  Zinc is a necessary trace element in the diet, forming an essential part of many enzymes, and playing an important role in protein synthesis and in cell division. Zinc deficiency is associated with anemia, short stature, hypogonadism, impaired wound healing and many other health problems.

Other metals which are regulated by the health authorities such as EPA, health Canada include Aluminum, antimony, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, manganese, mercury, nickel, selenium, thallium, uranium and zinc.

pH of water is an very important factor which need to be monitored, as acidic water may cause corrosion in water pipes and leach metals such as copper and lead into our drinking water. While fluoride is added to protect children from developing cavities and tooth decay, however, at relatively low concentrations it can potentially cause adverse health effects.

Using state of the art instruments such as ICP-MS and other essential laboratory instruments we will test 17 metals, Fluoride, pH of drinking water and total dissolved solids (TDS) for under $100.00.
